Summer Reading Program: Have Book, Will Travel!

Summer Reading
Registration begins June 1st and is open to all ages – even the little ones! Sign up online at www.palosheightslibrary.org or in person.

The goal for every child is to read (or be read to) for 20 minutes five days each week. Starting June 10th, kids can check in weekly,either online or at the Youth Services Desk. Be sure to bring along your book log!

Everyone who meets their weekly goal will receive a small prize, plus a chance to win something bigger. Starting July 15th, all children who have met their six week goal will receive a paperback book of their choice, entry into the Grand Prize Drawing and more. Last day to check in is July 31st.

Summer Story Times
Our story times are designed to develop literacy skills, promote language development and instill a life-long love of reading in our children. The six week summer session starts June 10th and ends July 18th.

Tiny Tots (birth to 23 months with an adult) Mondays at 10am
Terrific Twos (ages 24 to 35 months with an adult) Tuesdays at 10am
Story Time (ages 3-6) Tuesdays* at 1:30pm and Thursdays at 10am

The 1, 2, 3s (entering Grades 1-3)
Wednesdays at 1:30pm
Move on over to the Library for weekly themed stories, games, crafts, and of course, snacks.
June 12: Up, Up and Away
June 19: Rolling Along
June 26: 3, 2, 1...Blast Off!

Tweens (entering Grades 4 & 5)
Thursdays at 1:30pm
Make a pit stop at the Library for an afternoon of fun with your friends.
June 13: Road Trip
June 20: Flying High
June 27: Ride the Tide

Teens (entering Grades 6 & up)
Mondays at 1:30pm
Go over the river and through the woods to the Library for some fun.
June 10: Henna Tattoos (space is limited)
June 17: Book Speed Dating
June 24: Movie Time

Haunted Trails Pizza Party
Thursday, July 25, 5:30pm to 8pm
Remember ALL summer reading participants are invited for free pizza, pop and cake. You must RSVP by July 19. The party will be located at:

Read to the Dogs
Wednesday, June 12 & 19 at 10am
Ages 6 to 10. Cuddle up with one of our trained therapy dogs and read. Limit of 15 minutes per person. Please register early. Space is limited to 16 children each week.

Adult Summer Programs

Palos Heights residents are given preference for all programs. Registration for Palos Heights residents will begin on issuance of the newsletter. Non-residents may register one week before date of program, is space is available. Please register for all programs at the Adult Services desk or by calling 448-1473.

Adult Summer Reading 2012: "Reading Takes Your Everywhere"
Be prepared to “take off” for a summer of reading that takes you everywhere! Sign up begins Saturday, June 1st. Come to the Adult Services Desk to pick up your itinerary.

Save the Date: End of Summer Reading Reception will be held on Wednesday, August 7th.
