Friends of the Library News

The next Friends meeting will be held on January 13th at the Library at 3pm.

Eco-Friendly Book Bags for Sale!
Through the support of the Friends of the Library, we now have environmentally friendly book bags for sale at the Circulation Desk for $1.00 a piece.

Thanks to the Friends!
As we begin 2010, we want to thank the Friends of the Library for their support. Once again, they conducted a very successful 5th annual Christmastime in Palos - cosponsored with Palos Bank and Trust. They also hosted two major book sales, as well as an ongoing book sale in the Library, raising over $11,000 for the Library. They have purchased items such as the book alcove bench and sponsored programs such as Jenny Riddle, while keeping a paperback rack full at the Palos Heights Metra train station for riders to enjoy. They are truly a hard working group. Here is what they are starting with for 2010:

Winter Book & Magazine Sale:
The next Friends book sale is February 5th through the 8th. Friday, February 5th will be the Friends preview night from 5:30pm to 8pm. You must be a Friends member to attend. The sale will be open to the public: Saturday 9am to 4pm, Sunday 1pm to 4pm and Monday will be a bag sale from 9am to Noon. All bags will be priced at $3.50. Bundles of withdrawn library magazines will be $1.00. The Friends are currently taking donations of gently used books, magazines one year old or newer, videos, DVD’s and CD’s. We are sorry, but we cannot accept donations of materials in poor condition, Readers Digest Condensed books, text books over 2 years old and encyclopedias more than 10 years old.

January & February Fundraisers:
The Friends will be conducting fundraising events in January and February. On January 27th, use your coupon at Bon a Pit restaurant in Palos Heights and 10% of your bill will be donated to the Library. On February 24th, Jullianni’s will honor the same promotion - present your Library coupon and 10% of your bill will be donated to the Friends. Coupons can be found in your newsletter. Please support the Friends!
