Computer Education

One-on-One Computer Training - Wednesdays from 4pm to 5pm by appointment
Students from the National Honor Society of Chicago Christian High School will be on hand during the school year to provide one hour individualized computer instruction. Stop by the Adult Services desk to register.

John Hojek teaches computer education classes all over the southwest side and now, you can learn from his expertise. John will lead the following four classes and provide laptop computers for all attendees. There is a resident and non-resident fee, no refunds, and limit of 15 students. 

Excel, Saturday, September 13 from 10am to 2pm - $20 fee / $30 N/R fee
This class will teach the many capabilities of spreadsheets and how to avoid making major mistakes. Participants will also learn basic formatting, how to input and save data and basic formulas.

Word I, Monday, September 22 from 5pm to 9pm - $20 fee / $30 N/R fee
This class introduces Word Processing using Word. You will create a basic document, discuss saving options, understand templates and how to navigate using the mouse. You'll learn to select text with a keyboard and mouse, use auto correct, format and spell check.

Powerpoint, Wednesday, October 15 from 5pm to 9pm - $20 fee / $30 N/R fee
Students will get a basic introduction to Powerpoint and the benefits of it's use. You will discuss slide selection, objects, inserting text, basic formatting and how to play a presentation. You'll learn to use auto correct, how to select clip art and more.

Basic Internet, Saturday, October 25 from 10am to 2pm - $20 fee / $30 N/R fee
This class will focus on equipment, types of service, different providers and advanced searching techniques. You'll learn to create a directory to download files, how to install programs and you'll discuss the security issues of downloading free software.
