Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library meet five times per year on the second Wednesday of January, March, May, September, and November. Anyone who has paid the annual dues may attend the meetings and is welcome to participate in any of the Friends' events.

Who are the Friends?

Friends of the Palos Heights Library is a volunteer group that is part of a larger network, Friends of Illinois Libraries (FOIL), the state organization. The network extends nationwide with Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA). Click to download the Friends of the Library Membership Form.

Mission of the Friends of the Palos Heights Public Library

  • To assist the library in carrying out its mission.
  • To encourage gifts and volunteer services to the library.
  • To help the community focus on the needs and services of the library.
  • To provide library advocacy at all levels of government.

Friends Activities:

The Friends participate in many activities during the year, including:

  • Collecting Campbell labels for equipment
  • Farmer's Market
  • Christmas in Palos
  • Sponsoring Programs

The Friends of the Palos Heights Library are completing another successful year and would like to thank you for your past support! We hope that you will join us in adding to library programs, materials, and equipment.

Fund Raising Activities:

Friends of the Library focuses their fundraising on programs which are low in labor requirements.

  • Jewel Shop & Share
  • Cub Foods Community Dollars
  • Two Annual Book Sales, continuing book sales
  • Country House Fund Raiser
  • Printer Cartridges
  • Entertainment Books

Dues are payable beginning in December for the following year. The dues have not been raised in many years and the nominal fee is $5 for individuals and $10 for families - any number above an individual. We do not issue membership cards but a membership list is always available for reference. If you haven't joined us yet, click on the form below and mail or bring it to us, along with your membership donation. All donations go directly toward support of Palos Heights Public Library.
