AMENDED MINUTES
February 9, 2012
Call to Order:
President Beverly Meyer called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Library, 12501 S. 71st Avenue, Palos Heights, Illinois. Also present were Trustees: Beth Barista, Julie Lawler, Marianne Orr, Bill Poore, Lois Stanciak and Pat Muller. Trustee Frank Petrosino arrived at 7:13pm. Also present were Administrative Librarian Elaine Savage and Business Manager Terry Fleckenstein. Trustee Diana Roscich was absent.
Minutes:
The Board reviewed the minutes of the January 12, 2012 meeting and Trustee Poore moved and Trustee Stanciak seconded a motion to approve the minutes of January 12, 2012 as amended.On a voice vote, the motion carried unanimously.
The Board reviewed the minutes of the January 26, 2012 meeting and Trustee Barista moved and Trustee Lawler seconded a motion to approve the minutes of January 26. 2012.
Treasurer’s Report:
Trustee Poore moved and Trustee Barista seconded a motion to approve the additional January bills in the amount of $53,112.29 for total January bills in the amount of $90,870.40. On a roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Trustee Poore moved and Trustee Lawler seconded a motion to approve the February bills in the amount of $58,397.63. On a roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
President’s Report:
President Meyer presented her annual report.
Librarian’s Report:
Administrative Librarian Savage presented her written report with a Long Range Plan Review. She also advised the board that she was looking for an inexpensive tablet for downloading specific magazines.

Personnel:
Personnel information was e-mailed to trustees.
Friends of the Library Liaison:
The February Book Sale brought in $3,872, which was $18.00 less that last year.
Christmastime in Palos will continue, but with the omission of the arts and crafts. Replacement to be determined.
City Council Liaison:
No report.
OLD BUSINESS:
District Library Status
Trustee Lawler moved and Trustee Barista seconded a motion to remove discussion of District Library Status from the agenda. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Review of Holiday Party:
The Board discussed the 2012 Holiday Party. Suggestions for minor changes were discussed.
OMA and FOIA Training:
Clarification was made and Trustees are to do OMA Training and print certificate which is to be sent to Mr. Kantas at the Palos Heights City Hall and one to the Palos Heights Library. Trustee Lawler is the Library’s OMA designee.
NEW BUSINESS:
Resolution requesting the refunding of GO bonds
Trustee Poore moved and Trustee Lawler seconded a motion to adopt a resolution requesting refunding (refinancing) of the General Obligation Library Bonds, Series 2003 of the City of Palos Heights. On a roll call vote the motion passed unanimously.
Palmer Award Nominations:
The Board discussed several possible recipients. No decision was made.
Executive Session:
Trustee Stanciak moved and Trustee Petrosino seconded a motion to adjourn to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing “The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body.” 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1).On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously and the Board went into executive session at 7:50pm
The board rentered regular session at 8:35pm
Adjournment:
Trustee Barista moved and Trustee Orr seconded a motion to adjourn regular meeting. On a voice vote the motion passes unanimously. The regular meeting adjourned at 8:37pm
